INSPIRING LEADERSHIP LEADS TO AWARD WIN FOR PD PORTS EMPLOYEE

June 27, 2017 by Lianne Stephens

170621-144436-FTAeverywomanTransportLogisticsOne of the PD Ports management team at Swadlincote has been officially recognised as an outstanding inspiration for women working within the transport and logistics industry.

Tracy Ward, PD Ports’ Contract Manager at Swadlincote, received the ‘Above and Beyond’ award in the freight category at the FTA Everywoman in Transport and Logistics Awards.

Now in its 10th year, the awards, held in London, celebrate the most inspirational women working within transport and logistics whilst raising awareness of the diverse opportunities available and encouraging greater numbers of women to work in the sector.

The ‘Above and Beyond’ award is given to women who are innovating in the sector, helping to drive their organisation’s success.

Starting her career working in administration, Tracy rapidly progressed through her career into the role of Contract Manager at PD Ports. She now manages a team of more than 25 people and has made significant improvements to the operation for PD Ports’ customer, the Keystone Group.

Tracy’s commitment to ensuring her team provides an excellent service to the customer has enabled Keystone Group to grow by 12% over the past 12 months.

Frans Calje, PD Ports’ CEO, commented on Tracy’s win: “At PD Ports our people are our business and this award highlights what truly exceptional employees we have. Tracy has excelled throughout her career and we’re extremely proud to have people like her in our business.”

Collecting her award, Tracy said: “I am ecstatic to have won this award. The industry is diverse and exciting. Whilst there are more women working in the industry than when I started my career, females in senior or management roles are still seldom seen, so there is still a long way to go with this.”
