Augean North Sea Services to open specialist Decom Waste Management Hub at the Port of Dundee

November 21, 2016 by Lianne Stephens

port-of-dundee-three-rigs-in-port-1Forth Ports and Augean North Sea Services (ANSS) announced on 14 November 2016 a partnership that will bring a state of the art decommissioning waste management facility to the Port of Dundee.

ANSS provide innovative solutions to manage materials derived from North Sea oil & gas exploration, production and decommissioning activities. They are opening a new 25,000 square feet material transfer facility at the Port of Dundee. The facility will enable the port to offer an integrated service to the emerging decommissioning market. The facility will be open in early 2017 and will offer best in class infrastructure and operating techniques.

The capability offered by ANSS combined with Forth Ports new ultra-heavy lift decommissioning quayside is a significant milestone in bringing large scale decommissioning to Scotland. The new quayside and facility will be fully operational by the end of 2017 offering an unrivaled decommissioning solution.

Charles Hammond, Chief Executive of Forth Ports, said: "This is another significant announcement for the Port of Dundee and we welcome Augean to the port.  This new waste management facility, coupled with our multimillion pound investment in a new quayside, is important for the port which is ideally placed to service the immediate needs of the North Sea oil & gas decommissioning sector.  The port's proximity to the skill base in Dundee along with unrivalled land space and quayside strength makes it the logical choice for large scale decommissioning in Scotland."

Simon Gibb, Managing Director of Augean North Sea Services, said: "We are delighted to be working with the Port of Dundee to provide onshore disposal and waste management services for decommissioning projects at this excellent facility.  This is fully in line with our strategy of providing complete waste services for the North Sea an follows succecssful completion of our first decommissioning projects in 2016."

Augean and the Port of Dundee attended the Offshore Decommissioning Conference in St Andrews from 14 to 16 November.
