Commenting on the congestion at some UK ports following the closure of French borders to accompanied freight, Tim Morris, CEO of the UK Major Ports Group said…

“We want to see all freight modes move as freely as possible. However, it’s important to remember that two thirds of freight units moving between the EU and UK don’t have drivers – being either trailers or shipping containers. So whilst the situation is clearly serious the UK is not cut off from the EU. It’s very important that the UK Government gets around the table with their French counterparts as soon as possible.”
