UKMPG comment on release of the Transport Decarbonisation Plan

“Moving at scale and pace requires Government to back ambition with significant investment”

Commenting on the release of the Government’s Transport Decarbonisation Plan, Tim Morris, Chief Executive of the UK Major Ports Group, said “Port operators are committed to playing a central role in decarbonisation, both in our own activities and also through the vital enabling role we play in decarbonising other sectors like energy, shipping and freight transport. However, moving at scale and pace requires Government to back ambition with significant investment, for example in the case of shorepower. That’s a successful model we see for the maritime sector elsewhere in the world and one we need to see it in the UK. We look forward to working closely with the Government to deliver the Transport Decarbonisation Plan in an ambitious and viable manner.”
